Solange Participates in Black Friday Protests; Honeymoons in Brazil

Solange joined the Ferguson movement in her own way. She put the release of her new sneaker collection on hold out of respect for the Black Friday protests.

Protesters refused to participate in Black Friday as a result of the grand jury decision not to indict officer Darren Wilson, treat who shot and killed black teenager Michael Brown.

“To echo my feelings shared surrounding the outcome of the Michael Brown case, I have solely decided to postpone the release of my Puma collaboration originally scheduled to release this Friday November 28 to Monday December 1,” she said on Instagram.

Wild Wonder, the sneaker collection, is the second collaboration of Solange with Puma after her successful release of Girls of Blaze back in February.

“This process was a bit more intense than the Girls of Blaze because we took a lot of risks, and created a lot of tweaks to get it right,” she told Saint Heron. “I love them both so much.”

Although she was ready to release her shoes, her priorities were rightfully elsewhere in Ferguson. But she’s also been honeymooning with her new husband Alan Ferguson in Brazil, too.

The couple stayed at the boutique hotel Corumbau during their Brazilian honeymoon — featuring a farm and palm trees.

Solange posted photos from her honeymoon on Instagram, “thank you Trancoso for being the most magical lil place to “honey our moon”…..Brazil could not have been kinder to us and our love….”
