Ice Cube: ‘I’ve Got A Lot More to Do’

Ice Cube said he never could’ve imagined that his career would expand behind  the confines of rap music.

Since blowing up with NWA and launching an iconic solo career, sovaldi the  44-year-old South Central native, cheap born O’Shea Jackson, has become a bankable  Hollywood star both in front of and behind the camera. His latest film “Ride  Along” not only broke box office records for an MLK weekend opening, but also  made a huge dent overseas, where films with predominantly black casts usually  fail to gain traction.

“I always tell people if you gave me a pen and a piece of paper when I was a  teenager and said write out your career and how you want it to go, I would’ve  probably short-changed myself compared to what it’s been,” Cube told us during  interviews for “Ride Along.”

He returns to theaters in June for “22 Jump Street,” and although next year  will mark the 25th anniversary of the first “Friday” movie, Cube says don’t  expect the release of a long-requested reunion sequel with Chris Tucker to mark  the occasion.

“It’s in development hell over at New Line,” he revealed. “New Line and Time  Warner gotta get their s**t together. They gotta realize people want this movie  and they gotta cut the check, you know what I mean? They just had a little  regime change over there, so hopefully they come to their senses.”

Below, Cube says he has ideas for new projects extend way beyond another “Friday” movie.
