Idris Elba is being ordered by doctors to miss out on the Golden Globe Awards tonight even though he’s up for TWO awards. Find out why the sexy actor will not be in attendance…

We expected to see Idris Elba flash his million dollar smile on the red carpet at the 73rd Golden Globe Awards, but unfortunately, he had to skip out on the festivities.

According to reports, the “Luther” actor, who’s up for two Golden Globes, pulled something in his back and doctors would not give him the green light to fly. His rep tells Entertainment Tonight, “On doctor’s orders [he] can’t get on a plane to attend the Golden Globes.”

The 43-year-old actor is in the running for Best Actor in a TV Movie or Limited Series for his role in “Luther” and for Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture for Beast Of No Nation.

This isn’t the only time he’s missed a big event due to health. A few years ago, Idris was rushed to the hospital for an asthma attack. He was aboard a plane and suffered the attack right before lift off and missed out on a press run for his film Mandela in South Africa.

While he won’t be at the Golden Globes, his rep did confirm he will attend the Screen Actors Guild Awards at the end of the month on January 30th.
