Patti Labelle Gives Up Diva Title; Calls Today’s Divas ‘Little Heifers’

*Patti LaBelle’s status as a true diva was and is never in question.

But times have changed and the music legend is ready to give up her title.

According to Patti, here the word “diva” has lost its edge. To hear her tell it, tadalafil a diva is a label given to whoever wants it, whether they have the talent to back it up or not.

“That word is used so loosely that I don’t even consider myself a diva,” LaBelle shared during an interview with PrideSource. “I always considered myself a woman who sings her heart out and who gives 120 percent. ‘Diva’ is a word that I wouldn’t wanna call myself because it’s so loosely used. It’s not cute anymore.”

LaBelle continued to break down her reasons for not remaining on the “diva” train as she cited a negative connotation associated with the word now “because all these little heifers who can’t sing are called divas!”

“It doesn’t mean anything to me and probably to some of the other ladies who have been doing it for as long as I have: Gladys Knight, Aretha Franklin, Dionne Warwick,” the singing veteran continued. “You know, I’m speaking for me — I don’t know if they like to be called divas — but I know I wouldn’t call them divas, because it’s not in good company.”

Although she hasn’t released a studio album in quite some time, LaBelle still attracts crows as she continues to tour across the country. Upcoming shows featuring the Grammy-winning entertainer are scheduled for New York, Detroit and San Antonio.
